If your Clover device tampers, you will be still able to accept the majority EMV payments since most transactions are chip + signature or have a signature option. You will not be able to accept any payment type that requires a cardholder to enter a PIN, such as PIN debit and EBT.
You do not have to continue taking payments on tampered devices. If you prefer to wait for a replacement to arrive, you can do so. However, if the you suspect that your Clover device has been physically tampered or disassembled, you should not use it to take payments.
